Third Annual Kudos Conference London

The third annual Kudos International Network Conference was held at the Holiday Inn Regents Park London on 17th November and 18th November and was attended by representatives from most Kudos member firms. The event commenced with a session from Kudos director Michael Scott introducing new member firms and updating delegates on developments within the network. The first guest speaker was Gordon Gilchrist from the 2020 Group who gave two highly entertaining sessions entitled “Leveraging the Kudos brand & Effective Marketing”. This session looked at the way Kudos firms could promote their services by looking at marketing initiatives that firms can implement with an emphasis on the usage of the Kudos Brand. The second guest speaker was Brian Smith, the Secretary of the Forum of Firms. Brian gave everyone an insight into the role of the Forum of Firms and its role in today’s accounting profession. The final guest speaker was Bruce Eastman of ACCA who kindly stepped in when the original speaker had to unexpectedly cancel at the last minute. Bruce provided a useful look at the development of independent regulation of the accountancy profession with a particular focus on the work of ACCA in that field. The conference concluded with a technical session from Kudos director Alun Morgan which covered recent developments in IFRS and long form audit reports. On the social side, on the first evening all the delegates who attended, went on a short bus tour of the sights of London, before going to the iconic 30 St Mary Axe, also known as the Gherkin for dinner. The Gherkin has magnificent views across the London skyline and a memorable evening was had by all. On the second evening those delegates who had not had to rush off home for late flights went to a wonderful evening of tennis at the superb O2 Area which was hosting the Barclays ATP Tour finals.

London was an excellent location and the conference again proved a great opportunity to hear top class speakers, for networking and to sample the excellent corporate hospitality on offer.
